Sayre Rotary Announces Winners of This Year’s Rotary Essay Contest | Local / Regional
Sayre Rotary announced the winners of this year’s Sayre High School Rotary Essay Contest and recently honored them at their weekly lunch. The 1st place winner was Gianna Quattrini, the 2nd place winner was Josh Wilson and the 3rd place winner was Dylan Seck. Each of the winners read their essay to Rotary Club members and received their cash prize after having lunch with their family at Grill at the Station, Sayre. This year’s theme, open to grade 11 students, was “How Can You Personally Seize the Opportunity to Protect the Environment?” Protecting the environment has always been important to Rotarians, but in June 2020, it officially became a new focus for Rotary. It joins the consolidation of peace and the prevention of conflicts; prevention and treatment of diseases; water, sanitation and hygiene; maternal and child health; basic education and literacy; and community economic development.
Gianna Quattrini’s 1st place winning essay will be submitted to Rotary International District 7410 Essay Competition for evaluation, where monetary prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Mike Frantz of Sayre High School was instrumental in organizing this essay competition this year and for many years in the past and Sayre Rotary would like to express his gratitude. Anyone interested in learning more about Rotary is invited to attend the weekly luncheon held every Tuesday at 12:10 p.m. at the Grille at the Station.
