7 restaurant openings in Calgary to expect this fall

Summer is ending and fall is approaching. Luckily, there are still plenty of new restaurant openings in Calgary to look forward to.

This fall, several exciting new restaurants and bars will open and we can’t wait to try them. From Amalfi Coast-inspired eateries to delicious burgers, here are seven restaurant openings in Calgary to get you excited this fall.

Bar Barbarella

Barbarella Bar is the newest restaurant to open from the highly distinguished Concorde Entertainment restaurant group.

Not much is known about this new spot, as the team is keeping details under wraps at this time, but we do know that the concept strives to be “The Amalfi Coast meets the Pacific Northwest.”

It should open this fall.

Address: #110, 700 – 2nd Street SW, Calgary

Open this month, this popular concept will open its doors in the community of Hillhurst.

Becoming one of YYC’s most popular burger restaurants, it will be Calgary’s third location.

Served on Martin’s famous potato rolls, the burger options are simple: single, double or triple patty. Then choose from one of 20 sides to prepare the burger the way you want. Most are free, but there are also premium toppings like crispy bacon, a fried egg, or even a samosa.

Address: Hillhurst on 19th Street NW, Calgary

fine print

Offering contemporary dishes with French influences, this newly refurbished restaurant and bar appears to have an impressive menu and room to match.

The name comes from the fine print you’ll find in a newspaper, as this new place is located inside the historic brick and sandstone building that was originally the home of the Calgary Herald, first built in 1893 .

Each room and area promises to offer a different ambiance for whatever you are looking for. There will be a wine lounge out front as soon as you arrive, as well as a central bar for drinks and snacks, a large central dining area, an intimate four-seater galley perch and even a private dining area for special occasions.

Address: 113 8th Avenue SW, Calgary

Cloud Naan

Serving naans freshly baked in a traditional wood-fired brick oven, items here are made with “fusion flavors from around the world.”

There are nearly 20 different savory stuffed naan dishes here, including many types of chicken, beef, mutton, and vegetarian options.

This one might open in the winter, but we hope to see it this fall.

Address: 17th Avenue SW, Calgary

Brix + Keg

The concept is still shrouded in secrecy, but “delicious cocktails are on the horizon,” as promised on the Instagram page. Rooftop and the recently closed Ceilis have a dedicated following, so a new restaurant from Umbrella Group Hospitality is very exciting news for many at YYC.

Heavenly desserts

Heavenly Desserts, the UK’s fastest growing dessert franchise, is officially coming to Canada.

This franchise is known for its contemporary interiors and quality desserts, and will soon be arriving in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa and Calgary.

These popular dessert cafes create luxury desserts, drinks, ice cream, coffees and more. There’s even an extravagant build-your-own dessert option where you choose your base, sauces, upgrades, and ice cream finishes.

The exact location and opening date have yet to be announced, but hopefully it will be this fall.

Husband’s Bakery

The popular confectionery closed over a year ago in order to move to a new, larger location. It seems that time has almost arrived.

This place will soon reopen in the Dominion building in the wonderful community of Bridgeland in September. This move was originally scheduled to take place in the spring, but after some construction setbacks, it was pushed back to the fall.

The bakery takes its name from its specialty: “Mari” means “roll” in Korean, and their gorgeous cake rolls are a top draw indeed.

Flavors include what’s in their regular rotation, like Raspberry, Blueberry, Chocolate, and Matcha, as well as special flavors, like Coffee, Pineapple-Coconut, and Sour Cherry-Almond, among others .
